South Haven Farm
Located on the south side of Morrison IL, South Haven Farm is a property with a long life and varied history that stretches over the last century like a bridge. It now serves as an 8-horse (maximum) Boarding Stable.
Thirteen acres remain of what was once a far larger spread, and these are devoted almost entirely to the barn and adjoining pastureland created for the use of horses boarded on the property.
Although the house was built near or before the turn of the 20th century, the barn, now used as a boarding facility, was constructed in 1950 by the Austin family - then owners - for their string of Standardbred racehorses. Refurbishment of old property has been an arduous and lengthy undertaking, but the most critical need of the boarding facility is being met by replacing derelict wooden pasture fencing with modern Centaur electric fence. The safety, well-being and happiness of our customer's horses is paramount to South Haven Farm.
Due to the property's age, and the wear and tear inflicted over time by past owners, much has fallen into disrepair. However, the house and barn are under new management, and we - the new owners - are determined to not only preserve the history of this land and its buildings, but to also restore both house and barn to their former, simple glory as we are able to accomplish each goal.
